Yup, you read right. Megavideo the 13th most popular site on the web, the hub for many porn addicts is gone. The feds got err done. The story is as follows:

The Justice Department has indicted seven individuals and two companies behind the popular file sharing website Megaupload.com which has been touted by stars will.i.am, Kim Kardashian and Puff Daddy.

The indictment alleges that the website and a shell company associated with the website, Vestor Limited, caused an estimated half-billion dollars in copyright losses and made an estimated $175 million in proceeds. The website was established in 2005 and at one point ranked as the 13th most visited website on the Internet.

The feds indicted the site's founder, Kim Dotcom, aka Kim Schmitz, a 37-year-old resident of Hong Kong and New Zealand. He was arrested in New Zealand by New Zealand authorities.

The indictment accuses the suspects of being members of "the Mega Conspiracy, a worldwide criminal organization whose members engaged in criminal copyright infringement and money laundering on a massive scale."

The seven suspects have been charged with participating in a racketeering conspiracy, conspiring to commit copyright infringement, conspiring to commit money laundering and two substantive counts of criminal copyright infringement.

If convicted they could face a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Yep. It's gone. This is a sure sign of death being brought to our doorstep; I fear we may be too late. Dark times are at hand.
MegaStuffs being shut down is indeed something that sucks. I didn't use their porn hub, though now pity those that used to. Had recently decently started catching up on all the 'great television' i've missed over the years; MegaVideo was my main source. This displeases me.

MegaVideo sucked though, it was always terrible pixel quality and then you had to wait an hour after watching 72 minutes or something. The frustration of waiting lead to my love of torrents. Torrents for everything. Need to watch a show series? Torrent it. Movie time? Torrent it. Animes? Torrented.

I guess the only thing I'll really miss from Megaupload is the ability to upload files to share with you people. Like DS Roms and shit.

I've been a bit hesitant to just torrent everything due to my hard drive not having masses of free space. With it downloaded, and me being able to watch it any time i want, i'd be tempted to put it off until later, and in the meantime, it sits there, taking up space. Grawr.
